The College' s First Fifteen rugby team members recently took up an offer of team awareness and skills training at Waiouru Aimy Camp with Constable Brian Wilson and Mr Graham Pike co-ordinating the weekend. Ruapehu College would like to thank in particular the coordinators, Colonel Lough, Richard Lindsay, John McIlroy, Rachel Bethun and the Golden Oldies Rugby team for their help. □ Thirty two students took part in various Link courses between 11 and 15 April at school. Taranaki Polytechnic ran a hairdressing course tutored by Mrs Alison Cleaver and Wanganui Community College ran a catering course which was tutored by Mr Brian McKenna. The cost per students was $10 but students said it was well worth the money. □ Two senior and two junior netball teams have now been selected for the 1994 winter season with Mrs Kath Campbell as organiser. The senior teams were to start the Saturday morning competition on 23 April with the annual grading day. The junior teams will start their competition the first week back from the May holidays. □ Recently appointed Kiwi Whanau Leader, Mr David Taylor, has recently organised a new school elective called Primary Teaching. Eleven fifth and sixth form students take primary students from Standard Two upwards through various indoor and outdoor activities. In the first three weeks pupils have been insect hunting, playing tabloid sports and having readingJessons. □ 'Colours' , a modern drama group from Helensville, delivered strong safety messages when they visited the

school for an hour on Friday. The group used mainly hiphop music and dance to share their values with an enthusiastic audience. □ Sergeant Mariasousay, a recruiting officer from Palmerston North recently gave a presentation of job opportunities in the Army. The emphasis was on noncommissioned officer and trade training. The talk with video and slides was attended by equal numbers of boy and girl senior students who were very receptive. Within 24 hours, three applications had been posted.
