Police handbook funds for community
A brand-new handbook released by the New Zealand Police Association is much more than just,a valuable source of information for parents, teachers and children.
All of the proceeds from the books, entitled 'Home Safety and Crime Preven-
tion', will be donated to community groups in the wider Wanganui area, ac-
cording to the NZPA's Ruapehu representative, Constable Steve Hart.
Constable Hart said the entire $ 1 3,000 reaped from advertiser funding will be re-invested back into local communities, including the Waimarino. Local organisations to reap the benefits of the programme include: Waimarino- Plunket, $424 (for the purchase of four infant car seats); Ruapehu Blue Light Ventures, $300; Victim Support, $500; D.A.R.E. (Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education), $800. The handbooks were officially launched at a function in Wanganui last Monday. The books include information and adviceona range of topics.
