Netball survives
The future of the Waimarino Netball Association looks rosy once again thanks to the efforts of local devotees. A motion passed at the recent AGM to have the association go into recess was recinded at a special meeting held in Ohakune last week, attended by over 50 people. Association secretary Lou Most said around 16 teams from Raetihi, Waiouru and Ohakune have expressed a desire to play in this season's round. All teams are required to attend the opening day competition at Ruapehu College, this Saturday 23 April. Start time is set for 9am. A new executive committee was elected from those who attended last week's meeting. Positions were filled by Jefferine O'Sullivan (president), Ali Hamlin (vicepresident), Helen Hammond (treasurer), and Lou Most (secretary). Committee members elected were Verona Pue (Raetihi representative), Kura Maoate (Waiouru), and Liz Poka (Ohakune). This season's division captain is Jackie Mott.
