Major bridge repairs
The bridge on Ruapehu Road, Ohakune, is to be closed for about a month to allow major bridge repairs to be carried out. Ruapehu Construction Limited is to carry out the work on the bridge, closest to State Highway 49. Work involves replacing the deck and sandblasting and painting the bridge beams. "Work will take about a month and road users will have alternative routes available without any great increase in travel distance," said council chief executive Cliff Houston. He said the work should be completed before the end of May.
