Waimarino golf

The last two weeks have seen some good golf being played. There has been a good turn-out of golfers during the Saturday and Sunday competition.

A good tussle between Pat Goldfinch and his son Brian on 3 April was ahighlight. Pat showed many of the younger players that he can still compete with the best by shooting a par 75. Pat and Brian shared the prize for best seniors with Glen Wallace taking best juniors on 9 up, followed by M. McNaught on 8 up. On 10 April Waimarino hosted the C Grade Pennant competition. Unfortunately the local team was not very successful, winning only two and a half games. The highlight of the day was provided by Wayne Marsh when he scored a hole in one on the ninth green for a win. His opponent thought he had the game won when he put his ball six inches from the hole until Wayne' s shot went round his, and into the hole.
