Budding rugby players from as young as four recently played in an inaugural seven a side tournament in Waiouru. The Waiouru Rugby/ Netball club hosted 22 teams from throughout the Waimarino and Taihape. Raetihi took out the Midg-
ets and under 1 l's, while Taihape cleaned up the under 9's and under 13's. There were not enough competitors for an under 1 5 side, although some boys did get a run. The tournament was run as apre-season get-together for coaches and as a bit of fun for the kids.
Blair Corlett, of the Ruapehu rugby board, said coaches now know who the other coaches are which would help during the competitive season which started on 9 April. Mr Corlett is pleased that money raised from the tournament will almost pay for a new set of rugby jerseys.
