Second bid to keep netball going
A special meeting is to be held at the Ohakune Squash Rackets Club this Wednesday night, to discuss the future of netball in this area. Waimarino Netball Association secretary Lou Most said the meeting has been called to re-elect an executive committee after attempts to secure a treasurer failed at the association' s AGM, last month. Around 20 people attended the meeting that saw all three former executives resign from the committee. The positions of president, vice president and secretary were filled, while that of treasurer remained vacant. It was at that time that a vote to have the Waimarino Netball Association go into recess for the 1994 season was passed. Netball organisers have since decided to revoke the motion and have called a special meeting, after consulting the association' s constitution and by-laws, and notifying the head body in Wanganui. Mr Most is optimistic that the position of treasurer will be filled at that meeting, and that a draw for the season can be made for an immediate start. In the unlikely event that the situation remains unchanged, a social round of competition will be initiated, he said.
