More Roads meetings
Following the recent public meetings held to discuss the council's proposed roads upgrading proposal, the mayor has decided further meetings are in order. Ruapehu District Council mayor Garriek Workman said while there had been a large number of people expressing posi-|-tive respenseS to the proposal, there wensl many wiih concerns at the costs involved; He said they had improved the presentar tion of the proposal so that it was clearer
how the costs would fall through to year 20 (the programme would see $ 1 m spent each year for 16 years, with the money borrowed). "We'd like to present the proposal again to see if we can gain further public support for what we are trying to achieve," said Mr Workman. "Nothing is set in concrete." Two more meetings are to be held in the Waimarino ward, one at Orautoha and one at Rangataua.
