Election for marketing group

Most calls for council representatives see councillors running for cover, but at the last Ruapehu District Council meeting there was some jostling for position over representation on the council' s Marketing Subcommittee. Councillor Ellen Gould retained her place as the southern wards representati ve, but Cr Irene Dempsey said she was unsure about her place on the committee. Mrs Dempsey said she was happy to keep her position, but felt she was not contributing to it. On hearing that there were two new nominations, Mrs Dempsey stood down. Councillors Graeme Cosford and June Baker were nominated, with Mrs Baker being elected.
