Break-away radio station to start in May
A new radio station studio and office is to be set up in Ohakune, by a Tau-marunui-based station. Peak Fm is also increasing the power rating of its transmitter which covers the southern Ruapehu region, to improve signal strength to Waiouru and along the Parapara Road to Kakatahi. They also plan to set up a new transmitter to broadcast into the Taihape district. "This new station will reach over 14,000 residents year-round and planning is well underway to be on air early in May to be ready for thecoming ski season," said station company director Ron Jeffares. The station' s Ohakune offices and studjo are being built now, by Peter Richards Builders, next to the Trustbank building in Goldfinch Street.
