Raetihi rodeo a ripper!

As expected the Church boys - Rex, Dion, Clarry and Corey - took top honours in the open section, along with big rodeo names Mark Wright and David Ashford. In the second division Murray Sergeantson cleaned up in the bareback and steer riding, while Grant Simon took out the saddle bronc title. Tui Gordon took the title for top woman in the ladies' harrel race. while local woman rider Bernice Frost won the

local contenders' barrel race. Gate numbers were down fractionally compared to previous years, contributed chiefly to Sunday's inclement conditions. As a result one scheduled novelty event - the steer undecorating, had to be dropped from the day's itinerary. Competitor entries were well up, although only five local entries were received.
