Apostolic Outreach celebrates new venue opening

The Ruapehu Apostolic Outreach Centre (RAOC) was opened on Sunday 13 March in the former Ruapehu Motors garage. Spiritual intervention started the ROAC's move from Ruapehu College's senior studies block to the Goldfinch Street site, said Pastor John Mason, who relates how he was woken early one morning in October 1993 by God and instructed to "consider tendering for the former Ruapehu Motors property". Pastor John approached Rex and Kay Oliver, former proprietors to seek their approval. Subsequently after the leadership and congregation had considered the proposal they put in a tender. They raised $13,500 and the National - Apostolic Church put in $10,000. Burne Aluminium of Feilding where Pastor Mason was an installation contractor, allo wed the team to as semble their o wn aluminium window joinery in the factory. possible," said John. The congregation thanked Koi Young and Son for soil; Sassi'sBistro for akitchen stove; the anonymous person who paid Errol Sue to move soil; Errol Sue for his early levelling of the grounds; John Greenwood, husband of one of the congregation, for wiring work, installation of fire alarm system and public address systems; Bruce Mason for low cost electrical and plumbing fittings; and Ohakune Charity and Sports Foundation for wall linings to the office, kitchen and toilet blocks. One congregation memberprovided 100 stack chairs; Peter Berry provided adisplay stand and further chair frames, and the women of the congregation brought in moming and aftemoon teas for the workers. When completed, the facility will be used for worship meetings; youth activities; a work facility for the unemployed will make growers bins (a non-profit church enterprise that was begun last year) and other activities yet to be announced.
