Orautoha nets $500 for Oxfam

Afiind-raising 'walkathon' by teachers, parents and pupils of Orautoha School recently raised $550 for child amputees of Cambodia. Orautoha School principal Robyn Olds told the Bulletin that all 16 pupils, plus a contingent of parents, undertook to walk and ride distances of up to 25km to raise money for the international aid organisation 'Oxfam'. The monies raised nationwide will be used to purchase prosthetics for Cambodian children who have suffered amputations caused by landmines and other war-

related atrocities. Five Children and two adults biked from Raetihi to the Ruatiti Domain - a distance of roughly 25km. A further four children, accompanied by an adult biked 1 1km, with the rest walking around 6km from the school to the Domain. An especially enthusiastic parent also ran the 25km distance from town to the Domain, while another opted for a brisk 6km jog from the school. The activity culminated in a barbeque lunch and fun games afternoon for anyone who still had the energy.
