Winning Ohakune gardener
The Ohakune Garden Club has announced the winners of two Garden Competitions. The Civic Pride competition is a judging from the road of all the gardens in the old Borough. The prizes are donated by the Ruapehu District Council. The 1993 winners are: 1st Mr and Mrs B Christensen, Southridge; 2nd Bill and Jan Taylor, Miro Street; 3rd Jude and Luigi Hotter, Mangawhero Terrace. The other garden competition is open to members of the Ohakune Garden Club. Gardens are judged by non-mem-bers in spring and summer. The 1993/94 winners are: 1st Bruce and Nita Wilde; 2nd Bev Kerr and Ian Harrison; 3rd Frances Frew; 4th Bea and Dot Barnes; 5th Pam and Deryk Brown; Highly commended, Pam Young. The Ohakune Garden Club President, Sheryl Wilson, said it is very pleasing to see the high standard of gardening in this area and she congratulated all place-getters.
