Railways agree to meet National Park subdivision objections

Railways say they will be happy to take into account the concerns of some of the objectors to the granting of the application for a 13-lot subdivisoin at National Park. Tse Group (the company carrying out the application process on behalf of Railways) representati ve, B ri an Player, told the Ruapehu District Council Hearings Committee last week that they would look at the existing property boundaries at the site before preparing the final subdivision plans for the council. He said the plans shown with the application were of such a scale that a pencil line represented a threemetre wide strip. The plans were not the working drawings for the subdivision but merely prepared in principle for the sake of the application. The objectors had said they were concerned that the boundaries shown on the drawings did not match the physical boundaries and if adhered to would mean the properties would not be as saleable. Other concerns involving drainage were also accepted by Mr Player, who said they would be happy to look into an easement over one of the lots for drainage purposes. Mr Player said the subdivision was to legalise the present situation to fit in with the present lease arrangements. "The applicant has entered into a bulk lease agreement incorporating the surplus Railways properties throughout New Zealand and.requires separate certificates of titles of those areas," he said in the application. "The consent merely seeks approval to subdivide

the land into suitable parcels for disposal," he said. In answer to an objection from the Manawatu Wanganui Regional Council, Mr Player said they would be prepared to provide separate septic tanks for the four dwellings presently occupying the proposed 'Lot 10" of the subdivision The council had asked that all lots be connected to

a reticulated sewerage system where possible, or have separate septic tanks. Oneobjector,JB Rhodes, questioned the viability of two tennis courts in National Park township. The proposed subdivision would see the existing courts given to the district council. The decision of the hearings committee is still to be announced.
