Road works deleted from plan

Because the Miro Street, Ohakune, road shape correction required extra funds (due to additional digging out of swamp material) the planned Raetihi Ohura Road seal smoothing has been deleted from the council's annual plan for the current financial year. Funding for the project

has now been allowed for in the 1994-95 annual plan, council technical services director Bruce Dobson has stated. Also, changes have been made to the plans for seal smoothing in Foyle Street, Ohakune. "Due to the high bank and steep driveways on the northern side of Foyle Street and also the reduction in the road width from eight metres to six metres, the proposed seal smoothing in Foyle Street is now not seen as necessary and has been deleted," stated Mr Dobson. He said the project would still consist of kerb and channelling and some short lengths of seal widening.
