Army wives learn the ropes
Queen Aexandra's Mounted Rifles wives and girlfriends enjoyed a get-together of a different kind on Sunday. Twenty ladies met for a 'mystery day' which turned out to be the high ropes course in the Waiouru Gymnasium. At the beginning of the day Diana Giddens, chief organiser, described what was going to happen as good 'bonding' for the ladies. Bond they did! "A lot of women achieved a lot of things they'd never tried before", said Diana.
Diana said the general feeling was that a group who hardly knew each other, now know and trust each other enough to attempt the high ropes course which is about 10 metres off the gymnasium floor. The ladies had to overcome their fear of heights, their fear of falling and their fear of themselves. Diana agreed that everyone pushed themselves to teh limits, and all involved can be proud that they did the very most they possibly could. A very big thanks is extended to the Army Adventure Training Centre and physical training instructors for their help.
