Exarmy man a JP for Waiouru
Waiouru has a new Justice of the Peace, Wehi Walker JP. Known to most as 'Willy', Mr Walker has lived in Waiouru for 20 years. Although now a civilian, Mr Walker spent 24 years in the Army and actively served in Malaya, Borneo and Vietnam. Chaplain Bill Gray, QSM JP, nominated Mr Walker. Padre Gray says he is glad Mr Walker accepted the position, as he is well known and has a good rapport with most of the community. Mr Walker is on the Waiouru primary school board of trustees, and is currently secretary for the Waiouru RSA. He is also the welfare officer and area representative for the ExVietnam Services Association. Mr Walker sees his main tasks as a JP being the witnessing of declarations and affidavits. He is also able to issue search warrants on behalf of the police.
