Raetihi venue for rally

The Ulysses Motorcycle Club visited Raetihi last weekend for the first annual 'Mashed Murphy and Chip Invite'. This is the second time they have visited Raetihi for.a rally, the first being during last year's Centennial Weekend. The club used the rally to raise funds for the Waimarino Rest Home Trust. It is unknown how much was raised this time but the rally was described as suecessful by rally organiser, Ian Stewart. The weekend began with registration at the Raetihi Motor Camp; from there they travelled to Ohakune to meet with other Ulysses Club members who hadjust come to take part in the official ride and Grand Parade at the Waimarino A and P Show. After the parade a number of riders left to take part in other rallies being held that weekend, or

return home because of other commitments. A bus trip up the mountain was enjoyed by those who attended. A stop was made at the Ohakune Club before heading back to base at the W aimarino Club for a 'happy hour' and a meal. The group then oiled up their vocal chords ready to be accompanied by Rick's Karaoke and the scene was set for an evening of top entertainment. Presentations of awards were made after the arrival of two very different ladies, one dressed up very tastefully, the other perhaps a little absent-minded, who appeared to have forgotten to finish dressing in her rush (and had rushed out with her fur stole over what appeared to be her underwear.) The presentation ended with a large cream cake being presented to Ian Stewart for all his effort in arranging the weekend.

When he wasn't able.to fit a whole slice into one mouthful, those present really rubbed it in! The next morning, bright and early, the visitors arrived at the motor camp to start the day with a good breakfast, only to find that the local caterers had not arri ved (it appears that their alarm clock had failed to work, with Ian Stewart nominated to provide a new one so that the same problem does not occur next year.) The weekend ended after breakfast with many of the members already booking to attend next year's rally which has yet to be arranged.
