Waiouru's new policeman

Constable Dale Jenkins is Waiouru's newest policeman, having started his duties in the area on 6 December 1993. .He was recruited in Greymouth and spent six years serving there before deciding to move north to Waiouru. Waiouru was his choice of posting as he said it presented the challenge of running his own station. On the family side of things, being located in the middle of the North Island presents travel opportunities in any direction and a chance to see the smaller 'mainland'. Dale is married to Catherine and they have four children - Colleen, Daniel, Scott and Matthew. The boys share their dad's interest in league and Constable Jenkins is looking forward to playing for the Waiouru Bobcats. He is also interested in hooking into Waiouru' s plentiful supply of trout. As a newcomer to the region, Constable Jenkins wants to promote community awareness and togethemess, although he acknowledges it may be difficult with Waiouru's residents being constantly on the move. He sees his main duties involving traffie control on busy State Highway One and was pleased to inform the Bulletin that there had been no accidents in the past three weeks. Usually there are two to three accidents every week.
