Motorcyclists in line for nationals

Fund-raising is the only obstacle standing between up-and-coming Moto-X champions Shaun Fredricksen (13) and Daniel Richards (14), representing the region at the New Zealand National Junior Championships in May. The talented pair are members of the Taupo Motocycle Club team that will travel to Mosgiel in the South Island for the two day competition on 14-15 May. The Taupo club is aiming to raise $5000 towards the cost of sending the team to the competition through raffles and fun days. The boys will be accompanied by a support crew and all their gear that includes two bikes apiece (racing and spare): Shaun competing on a Kawasaki 1994 KX80 Big Wheel and Daniel on a 1993 version of the same. As a lead-up to the event, riders will take part in the North Island Junior Championships at Taupo over Easter weekend. Competitors will also spend many gruelling hours in individual training and preparation for the Nationals. Both Daniel and Shaun have enjoyed various successes within the club and on a regional level while this is their first year at the Nationals. 1994 also marks Shaun' s debut into Super-X racing.
