Shorts Hill on long list?

Council wants to save money by putting off repairing the Shorts Hill wash-outs, believes Waimarino Community Board member Winston Oliver. Once again he expressed despair at the length of time it was taking council to have the damage repaired. "In the old days when winter flood damage occurred it was fixed the next summer. Now it' s taking two or even three summer* "

He said it had been promised that the work would be finished by the end of February but that there was not yet any sign of work. Ruapehu District mayor Garrick Workman said the job had been tendered earlier but that only one tender, which was unacceptably high, was received, so it was retendered. Council officer Bruce Dobson promised to find out at what stage the iob was.
