Raetihi bowling news

On Sunday 23 January the Raetihi Bowling Club held a drawn rinks tournament at the bowling green with 48 bowlers competing. The bowlers came from Levin, Wanganui, Ohakune, Owhango, Manunui and Taumarunui to take part in this toumament. The tournament is the biggest attendance the club has had for a long time. Williams and Kettle sponsored the tournament and were represented at the tournament by Ian Allen who presented the prizes to the winning teams. The winners for the day were Laurie Birchall's team with the second place going to Sue Burnard's team from Manunui. The weather was excellent for the tournament helping to make it a most successful one. Mrs Diane Martin, the club president stated, "I

would like to thank Williams and Kettle for their sponsorship and to say that I am pleased they were able to help local bowls in this way. Our membership is'up this year and support of sponsorship, for the community is helping the club financially." The club holds twilight bowls on a Monday evening 5.30 to 7pm and Saturday afternoon bowls with the draw at 1pm. Any one interested can get in touch with Mrs Diane Martin.
