Photos prompt Ohakune School memories
Schooling in Ohakune will celebrate its centennial in 1996. It was on 1 October 1896 when the first school was opened with Miss Ethel Manson teaching 'six or seven' pupils of various ages. A meeting will be held 7 February at the Ohakune Primary School, to form a jubilee committee. Ruapehu College staff member Merilyn George has produced the photographs at right, which she says should prompt some memories for readers.
