Turoa staff use off-season to brush up on first aid skills

Neck injuries, fractures and broken ribs were just some of the horrific simulated injuries suffered by a party of Turoa staff members on their way to the skifield last week. Fortunately for all the 'accident' occurred outside Turoa Lodge in Thames Street, where the rest of the Turoa team were completing a comprehensive three day course in first aid. Annabel Costello, a fulltime instructor with the OrderofStJohn, Wanganui, said the 15 trainees - all key Turoa personnel - completed the 18 hour full industrial first aid course, with all passing with flying colours. The team received instruction in first aid techniques particularly relevant to the skifield, with emphasis on fractures, back injuries and broken limbs.
