Waimarino singles champ to Wanganui
After a hard-fought match at the Ohakune grounds on Wednesday, Ohakune Bowling Club singles champion Audrey Nation will represent the region at next month's Open Singles competition in Wanganui. Audrey Nation began play on Wednesday with two lives against Christina McLeod's one. Christina won the first game con vincingly. In a hard-fought second round the two were neck-and-neck with the game tied 1 9-all on the 1 9th end. Audrey took two points on the 20th end to clinch the game. The win is the latest in a r run of successes for Mrs Nation who had wins as both a singles player and in teams events. The 'A' pairs was taken by Audrey and Rita Kaiwhare; she also went on to win the senior singles and captained the winning rinks team consisting of Rita Kaiwhare (3), Christina McLeod (2) and Leslie Thompson (lead). The 'B' pairs was won by Wai B ro wn and Merrilyn George. Merrilyn also won the junior singles.
