New action group formed (for fun!)
No, they re not about to lobby the government for law changes - they've got together to promote Ohakune's "outdoor actions and attractions". The group of smaller operators have banded together to provide accom-
modation hosts and information offices with up-to-date information on what's available for visitors to do while on holiday in the area.
In the past motelliers and the like have found it difficult to know who is operating at what times, because some activities are seasonal
or operate on-demand at various times. So they (and you) know what's on, where and when, the group keeps updating
their information output. The activities covered include (for summer): Scenic downhill mountain bike rides (on the Ohakune Mountain Road); Horse trekking and carriage rides; white water rafting; ultimate game (splat-ball); grass skiing; garden tours, flying fox; mountain guiding, climbing and instruction; canoe and kayak tours ; guided trout fishing; narrated bush walks and cassettehire, jetboat tours; and transport to the various hiking tracks and activities. There is also available information on hiring gear for: fishing, golf, squash, in-line skating, mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking, and climbing. For more information see advertisement on page two, or ask your hosts or the local information centre.
