Easy biking with thrills
One of the newest adventures in the Ruapehu area is the "Ohakune Mountain Ride", where you are taken by minibus to the top of the 16km Ohakune Mountain Road and return on mountain bikes (helmets & gloves provided). Operator Moss Simeon advises his customers to take it easy on this scenic ride on sealed roads. Parts are steep and if care isn't taken, spills can result. The route offers great scenery (see story page two) along with the fun. Mountain bikes are not allowed off-road, but outside the park there are trails available. Ask Moss.
