Circus man returns

Tony Ratcliffe and Jumbo the African Elephant take a rest between shows at Ohakune Primary School on Saturday. From Circus Antonio, Tony reminisced about his 34 plus years in the circus which started in Ohakune. He ran away from his home in Taumarunui at age 15, and joined the circus while it was playing at Ohakune. Jumbo is 15 years old, and despite whai people might think, gets regular exercise. Tony takes Jumbo for a walk around the streets, usually at about 4am (so she probably knows all the roads in Ohakune and Raetihi by now).
