Prison for trespass
Peter Sydney Low, 25, unemployed of Raetihi, pleaded guilty to three charges of trespass at the Ruapehu Hotel in Seddon Street, Raetihi, on 24 November (two charges on that day) and again on 27 No-
vember. The charges related to a trespass order issued by the occupier of the Ruapehu Hotel, John Alistair Boyd, to the defendant on an earlier occasion. Despite that, Low had entered the public bar of the hotel on 24 July and, when asked to leave had, after an argument, done so only to return again 5 minutes later. On 27 November he had entered the hotel' s bottle store to purchase liquor saying that he didn't think the trespass notice applied to
that part of the hotel. He was sentenced to one month's imprisonment and told that the trespass order would continue for another 12 months.
