Power savings exceeded
King Country Energy looks like being more successful than it expected with marketing one of its strategic goals for the year. The power company began the year with an aim to reduce domestic consumption of electricity in its area by two per cent - but in recent months domestic saies have dropped well below that. October' s domestic saies were down 7.3 per cent on last year at the same time, while September saies were down 5.9 per cent on September 1993. General manager Peter Till attributes some of the credit for the domestic savings to the marketing effort carried out by the company, but says a very mild winter is mainly the reason. Food processing and wood processing saies were up by
a third on the previous year' s totals for both September and October, while saies to the retail trade were up by nearly a third in October over the same period last year. King Country Energy staff have been under scrutiny over recent weeks, but all in the name of improved customer service. A scoping study done earlier by work study consultants identified areas where King Country Energy could improve the efficiency of its.operations and the directors approved a full work -study programme. General manager Peter Till says the study has been very useful in identifying areas where customer service could be improved, as well as provide internal efficiencies that will make King Country Energy more cost-effective in future.
