Ohakune water still on the boil

Ohakune residents are still being advised to boil their drinking water, although repairs to the pipework and tank at the water treatment plant have been completed. Area engineer Don Sattler said work is still being carried out on recommissioning the fine filters, although the depth filters and the UV system are working. "Without the DE filters operational, and with the turbidity of the water of late people should still boil their drinking water," he said. A notice would be issued as soon as staff were sure it was safe to drink the water, he said.
