In a report summarising the current rates situation, Ruapehu District councillors were told that rates for the first quarter ending 30 September had produced a total of $2,477,176 or 85.79% of the $2,850,258 rates levied. During October approximately 1200 reminder letters were sent out to ratepayers who had missed their payment of the first instalment. There are now 182 ratepayers on the Direct Debit system and this method of payment will be further promoted.
