Hospital strike averted
Strike action by Good Health Wanganui nurses last week was averted just hours before it was due to take effect. Nursing staff at Waimarino Health Centre, which comes under the umbrella of Good Health Wanganui, were to' have taken part in the 48-hour strike action. Instead, nurses held further meetings to consider a revised employment contract which had been developed by representatives of the two parties. Amongst other things, the revised agreement recognises the nurses' need for increased salaries.
