Big turnout for voting
King Country voters turned out in force on Saturday, to decide who will govern the country for the next three years. (Pictured is Ohakune resident Kerry Robinson casting her vote at the Ohakune Court House.) Statistics released from the head office in TeKuiti revealed that 91 .3% of registered King Country voters exercised their right. As expected, incumbent Jim Boiger retained his seat (7663), although his majority slipped from 7504, to 421 1 . The next highest polling candidate was Labour's Murray Simpson, with 3452. FPP was highly favoured by local voters (8854), compared with MMP (6549)
