Guides leader sought
BY SHELLY SHEARSBY A new guide leader is being sought for Raetihi's girl guides. Stephanie Rogers recently left her position as Raetihi guide leader, while assistant leader Judy Munn recently retjred from that position. The guides held a small farewell for
Stephanie and Judy on Thursday night. They presented Stephanie with a pot and two coffee mugs and Judy received a pot plant as thanks for the work both had done in helping the girls reach their goals and badges so far. Stephanie was leader of the Raetihi guides for
three years and assisted the group for the first year prior to her becoming leader. Judy assisted Stephanie for the final few months. Guides still attract a lot of interest among young girls of Raetihi. They are all eager to continue guides but will join lone guides until
another leader is found. The guides have to work toward progression and interest badges. To gain a progression badge a girl has to participate in various indoor and outdoor , activities. They attain firstly the pink bar, then jade bar and lastly the gold bar to complete
the progression. In order to be a guide leader you must not have a criminal record but you do not need any qualifications. The Raetihi guides meet every Thursday at the scouts den at 6.30pm and are looking for someone to assist so they can continue to meet as a group. If not Raetihi Guides will go into recess. If interested, please contact Kath Maxwell.
