Warmer winter delays power survey

Energy consumers in Ohakune will have to wait until next winter before an infra-red aerial survey can be made of their properties. King Country Energy general manager Peter Till says the warmer weather is to blame - the surveys are best carried out on clear, still cold days - and there was a shortage of those this winter. Meanwhile cataloguing the results of the aerial survey flown over Taumarunui on the evenings of 25 and 26 of August is taking

longer than expected, but there should be some pictures able to be made public soon. Mr Till says the flyover has produced some dramatic pictures and consumers with major heat losses identified by the survey will be approached individually and offered assistance to stem their losses. Power use down Domestic consumers are continuing to use less electricity in King Country Energy' s net-

work area, but it's not all bad news. The power company is attempting to curb overall domestic consumption by encouraging energy efficiency as one of its major strategic goals for the year. While the warmer winter has played its part, general manager Peter Till says the company has been actively marketing energy efficiency measures, particularly those that shift consumption to offoeak Deriods. An energy efficiency display mounted in

Ohakune, held in conjunction with another event, attracted about 3000 visitors. New displays, including an electric vehicle and an animated

Medallion Home, have gone on show in the Taumarunui energy efficiency centre. According to the New Zealand Standard Industry Codes (NZSIC)

reports for August and September, King Country Energy 's goal to lower domestic con-

sumption is being achieved, with domestic saies down 2.03 per cent in August and 3.5 per cent in SeDtember.
