Stamps celebrate 1940's New Zealand
Aerial topdressing features on a brand new series of stamps to be released by New Zealand Post tomorrow. The stamps are a celebration of this country during the 1940's. Other stamps in the issue feature the first post-war hy-dro-electric power station at Karapiro on the Waikato River, the formation of the New Zealand Marching Association and different aspects of World War II. Ohakune Post Shop manager Cynthia Dowsett
said the latest series are a nostalgic look at those difficult years. "The stamps are the third in a fascinating series depicting decades from the 1920's onwards", she said. "Farming from the sky transformed much of New Zealand farm land and it's appropriate that a stamp commemorates its contribution to agriculture." The stamps and first day cover will be on sale at all New Zealand Post Shops from Wednesday 3 November.
