Bodybuilder tops at Nationals

Ohakune bodybuilder Carys Hubbard recently completed her competitive season on a high note, by gaining third place in the junior women (under 21) category at the New Zealand Federation of Bodybuilders National Championships in Auckland over Labour Weekend. This follows her first placings at both the Harbour City Classic in Wellington and at the Central North Island Championships in Hamilton last month. Carys was also judged to win the best routine, choreographed by her sister Helen, at the Nationals thus retaining the recognition for Waimarino bodybuilders,

as Waiouru' s Ana Brien won this award in 1992. Ana did not compete this year. Carys completes her three year's study at Waikato Polytechnic after gaining her certificate in sports studies and finishing her diploma in personal fitness training this month. She currently trains at Les Mills in Hamilton where she also works as a personal fitness trainer and instructs 'step' and 'pump' classes. Note: The Ruapehu Bulletin was advised that Carys was placed first in her category at the weekend's Taranaki Bodybuilding Championships held in New Plymouth .
