Scouts about washing cars
Cubs, Keas and Scouts were out and about last weekend raising funds through a car wash service in Waiouru. Saturday morning's efforts were very successful with around 50 cars washed and buffed to gleaming perfection. An aim was also to raise the public profile of the scouting movement and attract parents to join the committee and become scout leaders, as dwindling support is threatening it's existence in Waiouru. Around 40 boys
aged from six upwards enjoy the scouting life in Waio un Funds raised will go toward uniform costs and tow ard the cost of trips away so that none of the boys nee 3 b excluded because of finance. Jenny Odom, the treasurer, is planning a white elep oan drive to raise more money in November and is holdi ng ; committee meeting at 25 Wakefield Street tomorrow r igh to plan for future events.
