Waimarino golf results

Saturday conditions were ideal for the championship finals where good golf and close matches were the order of the day. In the senior men Jim Ennis shot away to a healthy 7up after the first 12 holes and was never threatened, coasting to victory on the 34th hole defeating Don Windle three and two. Senior ladies traded shot for shot all day with it all coming down to the 36th green. Jill Martin calmly holed a five foot putt and when the three footer of Pauline Mowat' s lipped out, the championship slipped from her grasp. Terry Geraghty never really got into top gear going down to Michael Lloyd six and four in the intermediates.

A chip and putt par on the 37th hole gave Pat Mcllroy the ladies ti tle over Bernice Frost. Highlight of the day was undoubtably a 'hole-in-one' scored by Colin Allerby on his way to securfng a 1-up victory over Neil Black in thejunior'division. Results were: Bronze II Ladies J Matthews beat P Mathews; 36plus Ladies M Black beat L Eades; Improver Men D Brown beat D Mellsop by default. Sunday ' s stableford: Ladies N Winter 34; Junior Men T Frederick Snr, H Geraghty and JPurcell 38; Senior Men B Drinkwater 43, J Hammond 39. Sponsors for the day were Ohakune New World.
