Third time lucky?

Last Friday evening a certain member of the Ohakune Club was bemoaning the fact that when the first 'Lucky Membership' draw of $ 1 70 was made the winning number (252) was only two away from his own (254). He went on to tell his drinking companions how, on a previous occasion, he had just left the club and got into his car to drive home when his own number was called. His mates inside had rushed to the windows and waved him back, but he just thought they were being particularly friendly and waved back. Well, guess what? In the second draw last Friday evening for $ 1 80 the number turned out to be 254 - again ! Unfortunately the (un)lucky member had just left the club and returned home.
