Temperatures and rainfall for the past week (all temperatures in Celsius) recorded at the Ruapehu College weather station.

The minimum temperature and the rainfall reported for each day in this report and in subsequent reports, will be the actual readings for the following day at 8am. The maximum temperature and rainfall reported for 1 August is 1 1.1 °C and 0.0mm, but these were actually measured at 8am on 2 August. Maximum temperatures and the majority of rainfall would be expected to occur between 8am and midnight. This method of reporting is in accordance with meterological service methods. Results for the month of August Maximum temperature: highest 12.9 °C; lowest 4.7°C; average 9.8°C. Minimum temperature: lowest -3. 7°C; highest 6.1°C; average 0.4°C. Grass miminum temperature: lowest -6.8°C; average -2.2°C. There were 23 days wheruthe grass minimum temperature was below 0.0°C. Earth temperature: (aMOcm), average 5.6; maximum 7.5; minimum 4.0; (at20cm), average 7.0; maximum 8.0; minimum 6.4; (at 30cm), average 7.3; maximum 8.1; minimum 6.8; (at 1m), average 9.1; maximum 9.3; minimum 8.9. The total rainfall for the month was 53.7mm, with rainfall only occurring on 15 days. Tbe highest rainfall on any one day was 19.1mm and the lowest wasO. 1mm.
