100,000th skier already

Turoa celebrated their 100,000th skier visiting the mountain for the 1993 season, last Thursday. Gary McFadyen of Lower Hutt was presented with a bottle of Mumm Champagne and a complimentary ski pass and lesson for being the 100,000th skier to visit Turoa this season.

Mr McFadyen, his wife Carol and two daughters Amber (16) and Gina (13) were there for the celebration. "It was a perfect day to celebrate our 100,000th customer of the year - we had beautiful blue skies, no wind and the snow conditions were fabulous," said marketing

manager Joanna Savage. Miss Savage said that the 100,000th visitor was not reached until the 17 September last year, so Teaching the milestone by 2 September this year was fantastic news, with more than seven weeks of the season still to go. "We're going into the

best time of year for skiing at Turoa," she says, "Turoa's south westerly aspect means the snow keeps cool and stays in great condition right through the long sunny spring days and September is generally the most settled weather of the season.
