f Racing conditions were next to perfect for the second Diet Pepsi Junior Race Series races on Sunday, with the race course groomed extensively and the snow in excellent condition. Turoa had received 30cm of new snow over
the previous 36 hours and skiers were out in force with an on-mountain crowd of 3500 enjoying some of the best skiing yet this season. A record number of racers completed two runs on the Giant Slalom course on lower Vertigo,
which made for great spectator viewing. "It was certainly shown today that there are potential up and coming ski racers of the calibre of Annelise Coberger and Simon Wi Rutene," said promotions co-ordi-nator Rob Jewell. The Diet Pepsi series caters for skiers in the J2 (born 77/78), J3 (born
79/80), J4 (born 81/82) and J5 (bom 83 and later) age groups. The races are conducted under NZSA (New Zealand Ski Association) rules and are open to all junior skiers from both New Zealand and overseas.
