executive Cliff Houston. • The first round of community consultation is now under-way with the community boards receiving and considering submissions on needs within their respective wards. This first and in many ways, the most important part of the annual planning process, enables the boards to properly evaluate the needs of their communities for the next planning period. It is vital to the success of the
planning process that the public fully participate at this early stage so that all needs can be identified and properly prioritised for possible inclusion in the draft annual plan for the year commencing 1 July 1994. Submissions can be on a variety of issues. They do not have to be focussed on physical works as social, recreational and cultural issues affecting individual communities can be addressed. A form of submission is included in this newspaper for
your use or altematively you may make submission by letter. In the latter case please make sure that your submission is clearly labelled as one to the annual plan. It is now up to you. Your contribution towards the planning process will be welcomed and given serious consideration. The more residents and rate-payers express their views the more the Council (and in this case its community boards) can be confident that they are developing a plan which fairly reflects the aspirations of the district and its communities within the resources available.
