Inter-school squash
Sport Fit Wanganui in association with the Wanganui Squash Rackets club organised an inaugural inter-sec-ondary school squash toumament on Sunday. Interest was high with approximately 60 players from eight participating schools includinc
Wanganui Boys College, Wanganui Girls College, Wanganui High School, Ruapehu College, Rangitikei College and Sacred Heart College. Ruapehu College, with plenty of budding young players entered two six-man teams. It became obvious, early in the toumament that Ruapehu were clearly dominant. The advantage of having squash courts readily available at the College was clear. Ruapehu College ran out the overall winners with the second Ruapehu team ending as the run-ners-up. The enthusiasm and talent is clearly there with a great deal of work between now and this time next year a target will be to qualify for the 1994 national secondary schools toumament.
