Young Badminton Talent

On Sunday 8 August, five young badminton players represented the Ohakune Club in the Wanganui junior residential championships. Ohakune dominated the day with all players recording wins and places as follows: Sarah Lind winner of under 14's girls singles and runner-up of under 14's girls doubles with Katherine Kereopa of _ Turangi; Katrina Marsh runner-up under 14's singles and winner of under 14's girls doubles with Amy Cranston; Amy Cranston also winner of under 16's mixed doubles with David Cook of Wanganui; Stacy Cranston under 16's boys singles champ, winner of under 18's men's doubles with Craig Williams of Wanganui, continuing his winning in the under 18's mixed doubles with Alexandra Bignell and the under 16's men's doubles with partnei Craig Williams. Stacy had a particularly successful day and though only an under 16's player he also won the under 18's men's singles. The club thanked Marie Cranston and Lois Lind for providing transport for the children and assisting in organising the games.
