PUBLICITY OFFICER, RUAPEHU ITC Margaret Horne, installing offlcer at the recent Installation of Officers for the Ruapehu Intemational Training in Communication (ITC), likened the properties of perennial plants to the strengths new officers would bring to their positions. As each officer was installed they were presented with an appropriate perennial plant. Officers for 1993/94 are: president Keitha Journeaux, secretary Ann Greenwood, treasurer Francie Geraghty, VP membership Gretchen Littlewood, VP education Fey Eves, historian publicity Myra Crowley, parliamentarian Margaret Cornwall, delegate to Council 8 JeanWindle. Ruapehu members on the Council 8 Board are: treasurer Jeffrine O'Sullivan, VP membership Jo Robinson, historian Keitha Journeaux. Council 8 is made up of clubs from Taihape,
Manawatu, Feilding, Palmerston North, Wanganui, Ruapehu and Korero. Inter-club competitions are held in various forms of speaking and writing. Recently Margaret Cornwall was third in the impromptu speaking and Keitha Journeaux second in the humorous speech. At the Intemational Contest held in Edmonton, Canada, Val Pink of Waikato ITC was first in the fiction section while Geraldine Mildon of Palmerston North, won the non-fic-tion section. Alison Ansley of Lake Taupo ITC took top honours in the poetry competition. New Zealand was also second in the international speech finals. The place-getter was Judi Joubert of the Whakatane ITC. Past president Margaret Cornwall welcomed two new members to the meeting and anyone interested in joining should contact the secretary Ann - Greenwood.
