• Police are concerned at the degree of wilful damage to street signs, letter-boxes, trees, telephone pillars, power boxes, a car's windscreen and rear window, and other objects along Miro Street. The vandals showed off their lack of intellect some time Saturday night-Sunday morning. Anyone who may have any information on the offenders, please contact the Ohakune Police Station. • Ohakune Police are investigating the theft of a men's silver mountain bike taken from behind Turoa Lodge in Thames Street, Ohakune, on Tuesday 10 August. • An Old Station Road residence was burgled on Wednesday 11 August, with a National video recorder stolen. Police enquiries are continuing. • A chalet in Tawa Street, Ohakune, was entered but nothing apparently taken. Offenders gained entry through an insecure window. • A purple Giant Acapulco ladies mountain bike was stolen from outside the doctor's surgery in Goldfinch Street, Ohakune on Thursday 12 August. • A brown Mitsubishi Lancer motor vehicle was broken into outside the Ohakune Hotel on Thursday 12 August. Police say considerable damage was done to the vehicle. A denim jacket was stolen and later recovered. An Ohakune man will appear in the Ohakune District Court this Thursday 19 August to face charges relating to the incident. Two further men face charges. • A pair of Atomic ARS 180cm skis with Solomon bindings were stolen from outside Yeti's Cafe at the Turoa Ski Resort on Saturday 14 August. • A second pair of Atomic skis belonging to Tokaanu Ski Hire were taken from outside the same cafeteria later in the day. Enquiries are continuing. • A pair of blue Humanic'ski boots were taken from the V.I.P. car park at Turoa Ski Resort on the weekend. • Several youths were seen leaving the grounds of Raetihi Primary School on Saturday, after activating the burglar alarm. Police are following several leads. • Two 11-year old Raetihi youths were spoken to in relation to shop-lifting incidents at McLean's Bookshop, Seddon Street, Raetihi. • Overnight, Benchmark Building Supplies in Ayr Street, Raetihi, had a plate glass display window broken by vandals.
